Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing an issue with my Fairphone 4 (FP4) where USB and Wi-Fi tethering suddenly stopped working, even though I used both features regularly without any problems before. I haven’t changed my SIM card, carrier, or data plan, and my device is running the latest available software (I checked for updates).
What I’ve tried so far:
-
Restarted the phone multiple times.
-
Toggled the tethering settings on/off.
-
Tested with different USB cables and ports (USB tethering).
-
Verified that mobile data is working normally on the phone.
-
Checked that my carrier (Orange France) allows tethering (it does, and it worked before).
Additional context:
-
My phone was previously rooted, but root access was lost after the update to Android 15. Could this be related? (I doubt it, as tethering shouldn’t require root, but I’m mentioning it just in case.)
-
USB debugging is enabled (though I don’t think this is relevant).
-
The phone is recognized by my computer when connected via USB (file transfer works), but the tethering option doesn’t provide internet access.
Questions:
-
Has anyone else experienced this issue on their FP4?
-
Are there known bugs or workarounds for tethering problems on this model?
Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated! Let me know if you need more details.
Thanks in advance
