Fairphone 4 turns off after 10 minutes of a Zoom call

After about 10 minutes of a Zoom call, my phone suddenly shuts down. Also gets rather hot. Any ideas why this might be? Would a new sim card help?

It sounds more like the phone is shutting down to prevent overheating. Have you a case on it, or hold it in your hands during the call? It’ll be running hot because of the video processing, I don’t know if it’s possible, but can you reduce the video resolution, of either your outgoing video or incoming video?

Also, are you charging the phone during the call? That generates more heat… Also, if you don’t need video, you may consider locking the screen which should further decrease overheating.

Thanks for both of those suggestions. Yes, it does seem like the phone is shutting down because overheating. Strange, because it didn’t used to do this. I’ll try to avoid charging while using Zoom, and maybe turn off the video some of the time.
