Fairphone 4 and no Android Auto

Hi there, i have a Dacia Lodgy from 2015, and just installed a Media Nav Revolution with Apple en Android car support. Apple works perfect.. but my fairphone 4 does not do anything. Tried thee usb cables. Re-installed the app (android car). Radio: Media Nav Revolution (LAN5800WR0) software version is 15.10.3 and android on phone is version 15.

Is it correct that it won’t work? or are there other experiences?

thnx!

I experience lots of Android Auto problems with my FP4. It doesn’t reliably stay connected. And it claims it’s overheating very often.

My husband’s pixel connected no problem at the same time to the same car.

but it DID connect  I also read some succeses with usb 3.2 cables/…

It is working with my Toyota. I am using it for Google Maps mostly. I am just using some USB-C cable, no idea about the version, probably 2.

Mmm interesting.. so Fairphone 4 is working with Android car.. but maybe not with my Media Nav Revolution (from 2022)?. Which does support Android Auto…

Stranger though..

Hi myrok24,

My FP4 is working with Android Auto on my Ford C-Max 2018. It shows just a few apps on the car display, not all that are supporting Android Auto. It seems to be depending on the version of Android Auto installed on the car.

“ist” must be “is” i presume . So again somewone fariphone (4) does work with Android Auto. But all different systems. I have a Media Nav Revolution. Your Ford and @DietmarP 'Toyota have differect radio is think..

@melzrob That’s interesting. I could not make Nunav (an alternative navigation system) appear in Android Auto.

Hi Dietmar,

I did some researching and got the following informations:

  • To show up at the car display the app has to be marked inside the Google Play Store as Android-Auto-capable. You can check all Android-Auto-capable apps (installed or not) via Google Play Store → Apps → Categories → Android Auto. To check which apps on your FP have this property, go to Settings → Connected devices → Connection settings → Android Auto and tap on it, then scroll down to the bottom and tap on Version. Under the last headline the packages on your FP which are Android-Auto-capable are listed. There you can also find the installed Android-Auto-version.

  • I found no way to see the version of Android Auto installed on my car :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

well, update: it’s working! :

  • i put in a new usb port (Just to make sure it is fitted sturdy).
  • but most of all: i used a DATA usb cable (2.0 i think, not a super expensive one from Philips). → after i used 3 normal cables apperently.

Its seems like it’s not super stable, but it works
