I have received my Fairbuds XL today. It worked nicely, although I felt like the left side stopped working for a couple of miliseconds, but I was not sure, since I was in a noisy place. Anyhow, just like an hour ago it suddenly stopped working. I have tried unplugging the usb c cable, it didn’t worked. Then I started disassembling the left side, thinking I should detach and reatach the connectors inside. But it came into my mind wether can they say that I broke it by dissasembling it, if I need to send it back in warranty?
I guess you plugged the USB-C cable back into the left speaker, right? Just asking because from my observation, the plug tends to get unplugged accidentally from time to time (my guess is manual re-adjustment of the headband to make it wider/more comfortable triggers this). From my own experience, the rubber-ish surface makes it sometimes hard to properly plug it back into place.
(Just to make sure: The USB-cable between the speakers must always be connected, it’s the only way sound can reach the left speaker)
Yes, I did. The interesting thing is if the cable was broken, or the connector, then the headset shouldn’t work at all, because the left part has the battery. I think the problem may be inside the speaker module. And I just verified on the website that they are selling the whole module, so not in parts, like speaker and the board… So I better not try to dissaseble it ![]()
It happens that new devices arrive broken. It’s rare, but sometimes the QA seems to fail. This is a general problem, not only for Fairphone. I suggest that you contactsupport about this.
I wrote them yesterday during the live chat, but since I didn’t had the headphone with me at the time, they’ve sent a list of tests to perform, in email. Nothing worked, so I replied to it… I hope they will respond.
