Fair phone in Brazil

Hi,

My parents are coming to Brazil next week and wanted to use the fairphone with a Brazilian sim card. Are there Brazilian sim cards manufactured for fair phone (fair phone 2) using the android operating system.

We are living in the city of Florianópolis in the state of Santa Catarina.

Thanks,

Joe

Fairphone needs a Micro SIM card, see size simcard.
The network must be:

GSM/GPRS/EDGE: Quad-band: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
WCDMA: Bands 1 (2100 MHz), 2 (1900 MHz), 8 (900 MHz)

Most Brazilian operators 900 and 1800 MHZ for calling
For internet most Brazilian operators use 2100 MHz HSPA+
So as far as I know only Sercomtel give a problem.

I wish you a nice time with your parents.

That’s just the Fairphone 2’s supported 2G and 3G bands. You forgot to mention that LTE (4G) bands 800 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz are also supported, and many LTE networks in Brazil are on those bands (source: Wikipedia). Given you are in a city with LTE coverage, there should be no problem at all.

Overall, I don’t expect any problems connecting in Brazil.
