Excessive outgoing noise reduction during calls

During calls, the other person often cannot hear me if I make non-word sounds like laughter and humming.

  • I have /e/OS installed by hand, to the latest version (3.4-a15)

  • The problem does not persist if I use a recording app

  • My carrier only allows 4G and 5G calls

Issue was from day one. I had similar issues on my FP3+ when I switched to 4G/5G.

I’ve tried adjusting SIM settings but nothing seems to help. Phone app does not appear to have a way to adjust its noise reduction.

Will also post this question on the /e/OS forum. If they find a solution I’ll link it here.

What happens if you set your SIM-card to one 4G/3G/2G?
Other users have seen better performances when excluding 5G.

I tried setting the “Preferred network type” to 4G. No difference.

(In *#*#4636#*#* it says “GSM/WCDMA/LTE (PRL)”.)

Bought a cheap headset with a mic which is working OK.
