Egg enter usb-c port of fP6, screen black

Some raw egg entered my usb-c port, i got the message water in the charging port, then the touchscreen started bugging (random screen “touch”) then the display gone all green, then totally black, i opened the phone and cleaned it (some egg was in) the screen is still black but i can still turn on the flashlight with the lateral button, and other devices can still detect the the phone when connected by usb port.

Do you think i can just change the display and it will work ? Or there is a high chance something in the motherboard has died (knowing that i’ve even found a bit of egg on the mother board) ?

I dont really want to send it to the fairphone reparation center and loose my data.

Thanks for your help

I really would not presume I can give advise for this, because I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a case of egg in the phone. Sorry. I guess you could try if you know someone with a spare display?

Hello and welcome to the community forum

My advice would be to treat it as liquid damage, and follow our water wiki.

You mentioned opening the phone, was your disassembly and reassembly full and complete? Did you take the display off?

I would reopen the phone, make the full and thorough disassembly and clean it, and let it dry for some time (a day, up to three even)

Yes i have fully disassembled the phone, clean it all, and yes i also disassembled the screen display, i correctly reassembled the phone, but the screen is still fully black, do you think a part of the motherboard who manage the screen have short-circuited and so buying a new screen is useless ? I don’t see any signs of oxydation or burn on the components on the ship, but i dont know

Perhaps there is a Fairphone Angel in your neighbourhood who has a Fairphone 6. Then you could test if your phone will work with a new battery.

I second @Lidwien idea of contacting a local Angel as remotely it feels like tea leaves reading.

However you may have a look on FP6 schematics and double check the water indicators (and other connectors as well)
