I’m running fairphone6 with android and duckduckgo browser, no associated google account. If I download an attachment, it goes in the Download directory, but appears as a duckduckgo subdirectory with no content.
Just Google screwing me for not using their browser/email etc.? Or is there a simple fix?
Appears in what? Your files should be visible in your Files app, as well as under “Downloads” in Ddg, which uses the standard Downloads folder.
What I think is understandably confusing, is that Ddg creates a sub folder but actually puts the files in the main Downloads folder. What’s more, in the app you only see the files you’ve downloaded with the app. Not very clear, I agree.
Thanks! I have the default Files app.
I downloaded the attachment, and expected to find it in ‘Internal storage’/‘Download’ which seems logical.
I admit I didn’t spot that Ddg also has a Download directory (or possibly a veiw of it).
However … I just tried to repeat the process and nothing downloaded at all.
I’ll also admit a lot of permissions are turned off in settings, there may be an issue there?
Will experiment further and report back.
