Deactivate touch controls of fairbuds

I’ve looked around and my impression is that there is no software-side solution to turn off touch controls in the fairbuds. I’m fairly satisfied by them (no interest in hi-fi audio or top notch noise cancelling), but the touch controls activate with the slightest contact making them very annoying. I was wondering if there might be a possibility to physically stop the touch controls from working, given their repairability maybe crippling some functionality is not technically that difficult? Only control I’m interested in keeping access to is the noise cancelling mode and that can be done from the app.

Just annoyed that part of the reason of getting these buds is to keep them and repair them for a long time, but the design is flawed in a way that I will just need to get new buds and leave these in a drawer…

(not hating on fairphone here, I adore my fairphone 6 :))

Although I can understand this intention after reading your post, I still strongly recommend to sell them on the 2nd hand market instead of leaving them rot in your drawer. Better for you, the person buying them and for the environment…

Especially in winter wearing a beanie it’s impossible using the Fairbuds. I know the problem and am interested in a solution, too.

I really think this is an annoying bug. It’s impossible for me to put the headphones in or out without accidentally pausing or starting audio playback. And given they don’t fit overly precise, I feel like I need to adjust them every couple of minutes, which again interrupts playback.
I really want to like the Fairbuds, but this is driving me nuts. I have zero use for the entire touch stuff. I think a loudspeaker should produce the sound it gets delivered from the audio source and do nothing but that. I wonder whether it was possible to 3D print alternative caps and simply throw away the touch control garbage hardware to use the buds as audio devices without all the fancy nonsense.
