@kilou Here or in any of the other topics discussing FPs way to communicate
Any updates on the most recent findings around: Drivers?
Has Fairphone already confirmed that this is the cause of all this mess?
So, the question is: Did this “Monitoring” pick up the suggestion around Drivers and are they actively exploring options around that.
Or are we going to stick with this issue for yet another 6 months.
There is absolutely no communication, that is the worst about the whole situation.
I would also love to know about the state of fixing the bug, but there are a few things we have to keep in mind: Often it is not easy for companies to disclose their current state of work for different reasons. The community did track down the problem in much detail and I am convinced this is everything that can be done from this side.
So, until now Fairphone should have had the time to test whether a firmware rollback helps. But you do not publish an update globally without extensive testing about potential other problems. There will be a reason the firmware was upgraded in the beginning.
Until now, Fairphone should have had the time to work together with Qualcomm to get the current firmware fixed, as I assume this is at least partially their responsibility. But here now you have two companies involved and you do not publicly blame your chipset manufacturer if you want to do business with them in the future.
And by now Fairphone should be in outright panic mode if the (albeit few) reports of the FP6+ having the same problem are true. Releasing a new device not working to spec on release is catastrophic, especially if you want to target new markets.
So, I still have the hope Fairphone is doing everything due to their capabilities fixing the bug. The last patch release was on August 25th, which means there are still some days left before we can expect the next. Having high hopes on the next one…
I understand fully your point that companies are reluctant to share too many details, but don’t see where your optimism comes from. The issue was reported almost half a year ago, and the public tracker says it is “Under investigation”… If it was at least “Cause identified” I would’ve had a tinge of hope to get the fix any time soon.
Right now it seems that Fairphone doesn’t direct too much resources into fixing this issue.
Can you share more details about the drivers issue? Where did information come from?
Thanks for moving this. FP6 is my first FP.
And be means of this topic I also found the following from May 2025: An open letter to the Fairphone community
Apparently, FP has been dealing difficulties communicating to users in the past.
Quoting their own statement from May 2025:
From here on out, we’ll be more present on the forum—not just on these two issues, but on anything else that’s top of mind for the community. Even if it’s just a small check-in or an update that says “still working on it,” we’ll share it. We get it now: silence doesn’t help. We can do better. So that’s what we’re committing to.
Fairphone wouldn’t exist without this community. That’s something we remind ourselves of often, and we’ll keep doing everything we can to live up to your support and your trust.
Thanks for sticking with us,
The Fairphone Team
I feel, with the FP6 IPv6-WiFi issue ( DNS over TLS/IPv6 issues- Apps don't load data over Wifi ) we are in a similar situation again as before, and although good intentions (quoted above) we don’t see much of this.
Opinions? Any ideas on how to proceed, or maybe even from FP themselves?
A company that fails to address a major issue for more than half a year—even well-intentioned statements aren’t helpful at that point. The moderators here feel compelled to delete posts, move them to new threads, and placate us—this is poor business conduct on Fairphone’s part, and they’re even leaving it up to their—and our—“angels” to keep the peace. We’ve all paid a lot of money for the Fairphone, and our patience in the spirit of solidarity is remarkable. I find Fairphone’s behavior completely unacceptable and would no longer recommend the phone. And that’s truly sad.
You again mix a lot things.
Angels are for local community help.
Moderators are for moderation of the forum rules and yes we can move posts and if flagged we can also delete posts.
Below are our community rules and we all have to follow those, also those that are upset with Fairphone. When one does not follow them, the mechanisms we have to make the forum a good place for everyone will take place.
Dear, please think about censorship. I am sorry to be such an ‘issue’ to you. As said before: No ‘angel’ is responsible for the company’s behaviour. Have a nice day.
Any ideas/opinions about my earlier remark?
A key issue on FP6 has been resolved now: DNS over TLS/IPv6 issues- Apps don't load data over Wifi
Maybe some time for reflection.
Would FP themselves be able to publicly talk about the communication to us, users/customers, while the issue was investigated and eventually resolved?
I think (I don’t KNOW) that fairphone goes through regular changes when it comes to their communication team - just shortly after the 6+ announcement their was a ton of “I just joined / we just hired” announcements on LinkedIn, many seemingly revolving around branding, communication, social media, etc. This is whiny, but it can sometimes seem the overall “public image” of the company may be more important to them than the users who actually keep the company running by buying their products (including those who go through great lengths to buy into an idea not officially available in their market)
While I think they make a great product and can definitely market themselves well, their actual behavior after you forked over 600 Euro has… room for improvement. I think we all understand it is a relatively small team (and, let’s be honest, user base) so there is never going to be the sort of “discovered by a random user on Monday morning, picked up by Engadget and Android Authority around 2pm, fix rolled out to 70% of devices by Tuesday” response time other companies will see.
I also appreciate it must be rather frustrating for moderators and angels to kind of be seen as “public voices” for the company but not having enough of an in to allow for more proactive communication around issues while also doing their commendable part in maintaining peace here.
I know this is not going to be directly helpful, but Fairphone is now in the US. They will find out quickly that no amount of 10/10 reviews will win them friends if issues that prevent using basic functions of a phone that, we can only repeat it again and again, certainly doesn’t charge a premium but is not cheap, are ignored or not addressed in a timely manner.
Someone at fairphone needs to be given the agency to take charge and while it’s fine to insist on official support channels as “the way”, communicating here frequently on known issues, offer resolution parts, gather logs, read what people are experiencing and report that back in a neverending circle.
Basicly Fairphone acts like they are a startup while they are not… anymore..
The customers they have now are the ones that should freely promote the devices, word of mouth is still very (if not the most) powerful and free marketing / publicity a company can have.
I still can’t advice all my family and friends that now use an iPhone to switch to FP with /e/OS (Google Android is not an option).
For now, you really need-to-want-to use something other than American big tech, support FP’s goals or support europian companies to justify the hurdles, and concessions, you’ll have to make and a big part, the support from what i read on the forum and the lack of communication.
I’m pretty sure that Fairphone has NDAs in place with their suppliers (I think of Qualcomm) and thus must not talk about all details in the public. However with the wifi issue being there for so long and people helping each other with workarounds and doing investigations I would have appreciated some more insights into what was going on for so long, what kept them from fixing it quicker, how was it resolved in the end and maybe even which information from the community helped them further. I don’t expect a press-release, but simply go into forum, explain it without too much marketing streamlining and respond to at least some of the questions that may come back from the users. That would make people feel taken seriously. But they roll out the update, mention the fix (which was really overdue) and that’s it. Alright, move on, nothing to see here.
Well their PR and your wishes dont match and I suggest to get rid of such expectations, else you will wait forever, beacause expecting=awaiting and this contains the word waiting.
Sounds very much like “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here”… ![]()
Unfortunately it is true though: Do abandon hope, because customers have been asking for some communication for as long as I have a FP (4 years now), and it never happened (despite several promises). The chances it might still happen one day are simply non-existent. For Fairphone there are just two types of customers, “prospects” and “troublemakers”… For the former there is a very active marketing department working full time, for the latter there is this forum where expectations come to die… ![]()

I beg to disagree.
A family member of mine bought a Fairphone 6 after a positive recommendation from me. He’s been having issues setting up his e-mail account and was able, with some help of myself, to pinpoint it only happened on his new Fairphone, not on any other device.
He has reached out to Fairphone a few months ago, not through this forum (I think he doesn’t even know it exists) so probably a support ticket. Just a week ago, he reported - and I quote: “They’ve been very helpful and friendly so far in figuring out what is going on. It doesn’t work yet but they’re taking it seriously and helping me as good as they can. My ISP didn’t even respond, but Fairphone at least takes my question serious.”
I know, it’s “just one” customer, but the framing of “Fairphone ignoring people as soon as they have bought the phone” is not shared by everyone.
