Hey everyone, anyone else having issues with the refresh rate when using Chrome on the Fairphone 6+?
It’s locked to 60hz for me (confirmed with UFO test and dev settings to show refresh rate)
The Chrome Beta works as intended and runs at 120hz
Do you mean the browser animation rendering rate, the android render rate or the screen refresh rate? Browsers commonly cap their animation refresh rate.
To see androids refresh rate enable ‘show refresh rate’ in developer options. Scrolling a webpage should run at 120 Hz while in page animations may run at 60 Hz. Chrome did have a flag #throttle-main-thread-to-60hz at some point to remove the cap and it’s possible that the beta dropped it entirely.
It shows 60hz with the dev option on and it’s really choppy while scrolling, did try that flag and that did nothing even with a complete phone restart, and as stated previously, the beta (not to be confused with joining the beta on the Chrome page, actually downloading the separate app called Chrome (Beta) is working really well and is buttery smooth and the dev settings show 120hz)
Assuming you run Fairphones official AOSP build.
The fact that the beta (and presumably other apps) work fine just points towards chrome being the culprit. You could use adb to watch what exactly chrome sends to SF to get a clear answer, but I’d just try an older chrome version or wait for an update.
Expected behavior:
120 Hz on touch/swipe/native animations
60-120 Hz on in-page animations
24*-60 Hz on media playback
*24 Hz is not supported by the panel and will render at 24 Hz in android but refresh at 120 Hz, depending on the exact configuration the dev tools overlay may show either.
Yeah I’m using the stock build that came with the phone (not /e/os)
I was guessing the same due to the fact like you said, every other app works great. I am not well versed enough with adb to actually use it to check 
but like you said, I’ll just use the beta until the main Chrome app gets fixed
