Can I use an old whatsapp backup from FP2 (I now have a FP3) for the new FP gen 6?

Hi,

So I currently have a FP3 with e/OS/. However something has gone wrong over the course of the years and I haven’t had an update in 3 years. To fix this I had to do a factory reset, but I couldn’t do a back-up of my whatsapp (it doesn’t work with gmail so I have to do something a little more “complex” manually and I just avoided doing that). Now the phone barely fanctions without the update and I ordered a new FP gen 6.
In the past, when going from a FP2 to a FP3 something had already gone wrong with my whatsapp transfer and not all the photos were transferred. Now that I am slightly more recovered from my brain injury, I saw that it had something to do with transferring from the wrong media folder. I do still have that back up of the FP2 on my laptop.

So my question now is: can I use the old whatsapp backup of my FP2 to transfer to a new FP6? I will lose the chats of the last 5 years orso, but can it work to salvage the rest? (I would rather save the old whatsapp data that was lost in the transfer to a FP3 than the current whatsapp data).

I don’t have FP3 nor e/OS but I thought I could ask some clarifying questions.

Are you mainly interested in having chats transferred or photos?
Is there any reason stopping you from doing the factory reset on FP3 other than the issue with whatasap backup?
