Camera Selfie issues on high light (Selfie-Kamera Fehler bei hoher Belichtung)

If you do a selfi in bright sun outside, all my pictures are strange …
Splitted into 2 small images with huge black screen.

  • This error / bug only happens, if there is much sun light
  • I tested this bug on 2 different FP5, which constant make the same error

→ software camera bug?

(Bei hohem Licht werden alle Selfies seltsam verändert, das passiert immer, getestet auf 2 verschiedenen e FP5. Unter normalen Licht passiert das nicht)

Important:
Using another camera app for example from Signal, this bug does not happen.

I can not upload picture samples?

Very sunny day in Cologne, but I can’t reproduce this bug.

Do you save your pictures on the phone or on an SD card? I remember some people having SD issues.

Thank you for your respond:

Yes, after loosing my FP4 with all pictures thanks to a cheap phone charger i decided to save all pictures on a SD-Card. If the SD card is the reason, why does all other pictures (not selfi-cam or not bright sunlight) not have this bug?

Well, it’s just a wild guess and might be something completely different. But it’s worth a try to first reproduce the bug (once the sun shines again tomorrow) and then change storage settings in the camera app to see if it makes a difference. And then, of course, you should contact Fairphone support.

It’s very important to use your SD Card as portable storage. People have reported serious problems with SD Card set as internal storage.

Hej.
I have exactly the same issue.
Did you find a solution yet?

Greets, Inga

FP5, Murena /e/OS-Version 2.2-t-20240715417772-stable-FP5, OpenCamera 1.52

How can I check, if the SD card is portable storage or intern storage?
If i need to select the SD card first, if I want to show someone picture, this would be a portable memory?

Steffen

Sadly not,
the onle work around is to make a photo with the messenger signal for example. The photo made with signal does not have this problems.

Go to the app Settings
Go to Storage
tap on ‘This device’
choose your SD card
tap in the right upper corner on the hamburgericon
if you see ‘eject’ then your SD card is portable

Which operating system and app do you use?

Same as @fleez or stock?

My operating system:
I am using e/ too:
Murena /e/OS-Version 2.2-t-20240715417772-stable-FP5
built: e_FP5-user 13 TQ3A.230901.001

Yes, i can choose “eject” (in german “Auswerfen”).

Well you both use e/OS and it might rather be an issue with e/OS and open camera?such information are always important.

I’m not sure if this is valid for FP5, too, but at least for /e/OS FP4 you can now also use the stock (FP) camera app instead of OpenCamera. If available I’d recommend to use the stock camera one.

Thanks for your suggestion. As the Open Camera app is delivered as stock in Murena, how is the FP stock camera called and where could I get it?

My workaround now is to use Open Camera in generell and Secure Camera for selfies, because Secure camera does not work with the wide angel camera I still need both.
This is working for me - but of course it would be nice to have everything just in one application.

Settings->apps->fairphone camera

Yeah, no, this is not on my phone. As mentioned, the stock camera is Open Camera, there is no other. Question is if there is a possibility to get the APK anywhere?

Unfortunately you’re right and it has not yet been implemented for the FP5. Anyway I’d hope that feature/app to appear soon for the FP5 - now that it is available for the FP4 already…
No, there’s unfortunately no possibility to just put the APK on the phone. Some HW drivers for the camera in the OS will be needed, too.

Good to know, thanks!
