Camera lens scratched

Hi All,

I’ve had my FP4 for 4.5 years now and am still very happy with it. Recently the quality of pictures I take has gone down and I assume it’s due to the increasingly scratched camera lens. (See image below)

I’ve got two questions:

  1. Is there any way of fixing this other than getting a new camera module?
  2. If I’m getting a new module is it worth getting the official case? Will it protect the camera when the phone is placed somewhere camera down?

Thanks!

The answer on the question how long you still plan to use your Fairphone 4 will determine if it’s a good idea.
Perhaps on the section Market/Offer you may find a secondhand camera-module.
A case will definitely helps when you lay your Fairphone flat on the table.

On my FP5 which has a separate casing for cameras, I use a case but also decided to purchase additional protection for back camera, i.e. small attachable protectors.
I cannot say I fully recommend the product as they were virtually impossible to take off. and the price of the casing is not that high.

But perhaps for you it would be something to consider, have a look (you need to filter the products for the cam on the back.
