Hi there, I know this topic has been addressed before, but so far problem hasn’t been solved. Possible solutions in other discussions, like switching off HDR, or saving to phone instead of memory card did not solve the super slow saving, or something not saving pictures at all.
Also, the quality of the pictures are usually very poor, unless the sun shines and there is enough light. I always need to improve every picture I take in order to get a decent result.
Question is: Isn’t there a way to solve these matter with a software update or something?
The problem is almost worth looking for a new phone, and even one that’s not FP. And I don’t want to that for obvious sustainable reasons.
If you have read the other threads about it, did you try one the alternative apps? OpenCamera or one of the GCam ports?
I don’t think that the original app will be updated. Fairphone has invested a lot of effort to improve quality and speed of the FP4 camera and used this experience for the FP5 too. But the FP3 of 2019 is slowly fading out and not getting any improvements beside security updates, I guess.
Welcome Feijo_B.
Well, is the OS up-to-date (what is your Build number: go to Settings > About phone > Build number)?
And is the Camera app up-to-date?
Just so that we can gauge the problem, how long do you mean by “super slow”?
But it sounds to me as though your phone might benefit from a factory reset, which would remove the tons of accumulated useless stuff and set parameters back to default values.
It would ALSO remove all your data, so make sure you have adequate back-ups (which you should have anyway of course).
Thanks for the suggesions. A factory reset might be beneficial for the overall performance yes. Thing is, that except for the camera i am reasonable satisfied with the performance of the FP3. For the camera I have now installed OpenCamera from the Google Playstore. Before I tried Gcam, but I like OpenCamera a little bit better. Anyway, with the build-in camera app it would take 4 to 8 seconds or so for the picture to be saved. And when you didn’t wait for it, it would something just not save the picture at all. With Gcam and OpenCamera this problem doesn’t seem to appear, in other words, problem solved. Not sure yet if the quality of the pictures are also better, but at least it’s not slow anymore. For now its fine.
