Camera intermittently not saving photos

Hi, I’ve been using my FP5 for a while now and have noticed that occasionally the camera app doesn’t seem to save photos. I take a photo, hear the shutter click, see it pop up in the bottom left preview corner, and then when I click on said corner or open my gallery, the photo isn’t saved!

This is a really annoying issue, as I absolutely cannot tell if it saves the photo or not unless I go into the gallery, all the other signs seem like it’s fine. It’s not a storage or camera permissions issue as far as I can see.

I think this might be something that happens more with battery saver on, as it takes too long to save or something. I think turning on HDR makes it worse, since it’s got more stuff to process and therefore the time during which you need to keep the screen on for it to (maybe) save properly is longer. Would appreciate a fix for this from the team, it’s been going for a long while.

It happened to me today on my FP5, too. I took a couple of photos, and when I went to the gallery, the photos weren’t there. I didn’t notice the problem at first because I don’t take many photos.

I assume you reported it to support? Else this will not be looked into

Hi @salutations_billy. Is it not saved, or saved with a length of 0 bytes? I have the latter problem, and while I haven’t tried it yet, I’m keen to give this solution a go - Fairphone 5 : Camera app creating 0 bytes photos - #20 by JohanF

although not having this phone or this problem at all.
Do you save your photos to internal memory (/storage/emulated/0) or an external storage?
