Hi,
I‘m having a Fairphone 5 with Android operating system (version unknown but doesn’t matter) as I want to buy and install the e/OS after I bought it from Amazon Germany with Android.
Can you tell me where I could buy the e/OS separately, officially and legally?

Forget /e/OS! Install iodéOS instead!
Why should I install iodéOS?
Look at the website and compare!
One unique feature of iodéOS is the blocker. It blocks tracking etc. without occupying the VPN. And it’s more up-to-date - iodéOS is already on Android 15.
/e/OS uses advanced privacy. It works DNS-based and simply doesn’t resolve requests of known tracker.

Because I’m curious, I just installed iodéOS 6.0 on one of my “spare FP3”.
- Installation process won’t finish without manual reboot into fastboot at a certain point
- USB restriction cannot be changed - apps crash
- For that reason you cannot access the file on the phone by USB

The /e/OS community forum is well moderated (thanks to manoj). I can’t say the same about iode. I registered in the iode community, but I can’t post anything there because my account is temporarily locked 
This here is no battle topic e/OS vs IodeOS, so stay on topic and stop the discussion here.

To address one question that most of us probably just regard as a given:
If you install /e/OS yourself (or with the help of a friend or whomever), it is free, you do not buy it. However, if you are happy with it, you might want to consider donating to those who provide and maintain /e/OS.
And the above is most likely equally true for other custom ROMs like CalyxOS, IodéOS, LineageOS etc. as well.

Great point and thank you for the reminder.
Rooting my 3+ this last NYE was a small but important victory for me at the end of a crazy difficult year.
e is a decent product and their forum is great. I’ll donate when recent money troubles are over.
