Brand new phone stuck on 'Fairphone Change is in your hands' screen

Hi !
I’m new here but new to the brand too.
I ordered a FairPhone 5 directly from the Fairphone website.
Received it today, but I can’t manage to make it work.

Following the ‘first start guide’, I put my sim card and turned on the phone, but it stays stuck on the blue screen with the phone logo and nothing boots.
It doesn’t go any further than that. Tried to remove the battery, restarted it a few times, sometime without the sim card, with or without cable, to no avail.
I also tried holding the volume button to open the BIOS or whatever it is as I saw in videos, but this doesn’t work either.
What do I do? Did I get a faulty phone?

Thanks in advance !

I let it on to see if it will eventually boot up, but now it turned off and doesn’t turn on anymore. It also doesn’t charge at all, because I expected the battery to have been drained in the meantime, but it doesn’t charge, so…

Try holding the power-button for about 20 seconds while the charger is connected.

There a few reports and a pontial way out if you feel comfortable, else I recomment to contact the seller.

it’s back on and charging now, but I still have the blue screen with the logo and it does not go anywhere else

To be honest, it is my first Fairphone I don’t really know what the fastboot is, and I can’t manage to open the menu either when it launch, the thing that looks like BIOS info, like for a computer

So best is to contact the seller I would say

So this doesnt work? You have to hold it for several seconds till it boots not only press.

Or you can try to get into recovery thats holding several seconds till it boots Power+Vol-up and from there you could try to boot into system several times and a factory reset (although I doubt it would help).

Yes ! this worked ! I didn’t know I had to hold the power button as well ! I already sent something to the support on their website but no luck so far.
In there, in the fastboot, it was written something was locked, so a bit unsure I launched a factory reset and it did the trick, the phone finally started !
I installed the rest all according to the phone, added apps and stuff and so far I don’t have a problem anymore.
What caused the phone to be like that on first launch? I’m genuinely curious. I thought the phone was faulty

I dont really know, maybe just missed quality check after installing the system or update. I had this with my new Laptop 2 years ago, and had to return it so they could reinstall windows properly
