Blurred icons in some apps after Software Update: FP6.QREL.16.82.0

Is anyone experiencing some blurred in-app icons after the latest update?

For example: the Wi-Fi icon in the quick settings panel, or Whatsapp and YouTube in-app icons looks blurred on my FP6, this is not happening everywhere, just in some apps.

I tried to change font size and display size but it didn’t solve the issue.

Let me know if someone else is noticing the same.

Something similar here, but I have only noticed on WhatsApp (message ticks blurred, everything else fine).

Could you post a screenshot, @flepa too?

If the icon isn’t blurred in the screenshot, that would be interesting too.

Yeah sure, this is the bottom bar of Whatsapp (you can compare the text with the icons to see the blurry icons).

The same is happening for message ticks or other chat icons in WhatsApp or other apps like YouTube.

Great, thanks.

Looks like the images aren’t being managed correctly to fit the screen resolution. Diagonals and curves are showing steps, as though the resolution were substantially lower.
Texts are fine.

This is what I see:

No discernable problem with the Quick Settings icons either.

I just checked, mine are fine too in Dark mode, so it’s not that.

I think this discussion would be better in a separate thread, I’ll just have a look to check whether there isn’t one already somewhere.
[Done.]

Interesting, do you have any customized settings related to text and display sizes?

Currently I’m using the default settings.

Hi!

I have the same problem, did it change by itself ?

I have this issue on Instagram and other apps

Thanks for your help!

I’m having the same issue. In Google Maps and whazzup

+1 – I also experience it e.g in LinkedIn

Hello @OldRoutard, due to the last comments reporting similar problems, what do you think we should do? Should we open an issue directly with Fairphone support?

It’s the first time I’m doing something related to a software bug.

Thanks in advance for your help!

yes thats always the way to go

Hi guys, I don’t know when and how things have changed, but today I realized that the blurred in-app icons disappeared.
I don’t know if any kind of UI cache got cleared or whatever, the issue is simply gone.

Are you still experiencing the issue? @Stefan_Galler @Alberto_Restifo @ROMI65 @Sachacerqui

@flepa Yes, just checked: Still the same. LinkedIn and phone are up-to-date, yet I see blurred icons.

Can you try to delete “System UI” app cache?

Settings > Apps > See all x apps > System UI > Clear cache

Let me know if the problem persist!

Unfortunately, it still persists.

Here’s a photo from the YouTube app.

Compare the icons with the text. Here you can see a difference in sharpness.

That is unfortunate, then I don’t know what solved the issue in my case.

I had exactly the same problem, but it magically disappeared. It smells a lot like “bad” cached data, but I can’t say for sure.

I would assume that icons are loaded for the wrong display density (and then upscaled). Maybe the OS is communicating the dpi wrong to the apps.

@flepa

Still the same problem here.

Same issue on my side.
Do we have a support ticket for this issue ?

Is this still the case on the latest update 16.95? :right_arrow: Software Update: FP6.QREL.16.95.0.20260708185435 📲 It mentions “General UI improvements”.
