Bluetooth Audio Issue: Audio Stops When Turning Off Headphone

Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with the Bluetooth functionality on my Fairphone and I’m hoping someone here might have some insights or suggestions.

Issue Description: The Bluetooth audio cuts off when I turn off my headphones that were connected to the phone. Here’s how the problem can be reproduced:

  1. The headphones power on and automatically connect to the phone.
  2. I listen to music, watch videos, or use any audio application.
  3. I turn off my headphones.
  4. The audio stops by itself.
  5. The main problem: When I try to resume playback, it doesn’t restart, regardless of the application I’m using.

Current Workaround: To resolve this issue temporarily, I have to turn off Bluetooth in the phone’s settings and then turn it back on.

Additional Information:

  • My headphones are Jabra Elite 85h, which use Bluetooth 5.0.
  • I haven’t tested this with other Bluetooth devices yet, but I can do so if needed.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, were you able to find a permanent solution? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance. Hello everyone,

An uneducated guess: The headphones do not “tell the phone” that they’re about to turn off and therefore the phone keeps sending data until a connection-timeout occurs (and the phone considers your headphones to be disconnected) or you manually Interrupt the connection. But I don’t know if BT-Headphones are even supposed to do that.

2 things that come to mind:

  • Install the latest firmware via the Jabra app, if you didn’t already?
  • Try the Headphones on an other device (if it works there, it probably is a FP issue)

Doesnt restart where? And you expect it to happen automatically?

Is this the same as described here?

Hi Simon,
I experience exactly the same issue with my FP6 and Airpods Pro 2 and found the same solution as you did by turning off/on BT. I am too looking for a permanent solution, but I suspect that it might be an OS problem to be solved in future updates if we are so lucky that the dev team discovers this issue…

Hello,
I have installed the Jabra App and nothing changed. I have also tried with an other headphones and same problem.

So do you confirm it is this issue?

And if yes did you already get the update that should fix it?

Hello, the last update solved this issue  Thank you
