Ok maybe not testing all of them, but they could recommend a couple adapters they guarantee will work. And they could also sell their own.

The biggest disadvantage I see with this audio adapter, that you cannot power the phone while using it. There are better solutions, if you need that feature.

Sure, but that depends heavily on your specific needs & use. I for one haven’t had yet the need to charge and use headphones at the same time. And I do use my old wired headset a lot, every day, it allows me to keep my hands free while on the phone (and it doesn’t need batteries. If I had used my earbuds their batteries would had been dead by now…).
