Back to stock FPOS and relock bootloader

Hi,

i am on iode OS 7.1 which is based on Android 16 with “Android Security Update” from 01. January 2026.

I know wanna go back to stock FP OS. This is a the momnet based on Android 15 and “Android Security Update” from 05. December 2025.

According to this Link i will brick my device if i go back to FP OS and relock the bootloader, because:

  1. Re-locking the bootloader will also erase all personal data and may prevent your Fairphone from booting correctly if a non-Fairphone operating system (OS) is installed.
  2. If you install an OS with an older security patch level than your previous OS, locking the bootloader might brick your device. Make sure the security patch level is the same or newer before re-locking.

So am i now stuck on iode OS (if i want to relock my bootloader)?

You have to wait for the Jan 5th SPL update from FPOS to relock the bootloader, yes.

did you locked the bootloader on iodé ?

I guess i have to wait then at least one more month, since the latest update was just released on 02. February?!

Dont know why at the moment they are a month behind however yes you might have to wait 2-3 weeks.

Yes, i did because i got asked right after flashing.

Next time i will try the os and lock it later when i am sure i wanna stay

did they inform you about SPL rules to respect ?

What if the installer only asks when its safe? Thats def what the Calyx installer did.

They have a disclaimer in their instructions
