"As a tech leader, please check yourself."

While I understand that the article caused a bit irritation here in the forum, as the writing-stile was rather meant for a different audience, thanks for reminding everyone about the important content and message.

OMG. They really stop at nothing to discredit those bad, nasty naysayers…. :man_facepalming:

Could you please quote some of the specific points where people complain about diversity, as you claim? For myself, I only said that now isn’t the best moment to brag about Fairphone’s diversity, not because diversity doesn’t matter, but because right now Fairphone have more pressing matters to address.

Sorry, but that’s a classical fallacy of defective induction at best, and at worst a really underhanded attempt to discredit people you don’t agree with.

You’re entitled to consider Fairphone’s post as relevant and fitting, but please remain factual. Accusing other people of racism because you disagree with them is low!

Do you really think, this is appropriate? It’s not bragging, but talking about.

As always it’s not about that you criticize something, but how and where you do it. A person or company has always to be allowed to talk about something, even if there are still issues to solve. If not, no one of has would have the right to talk about anything, because there is always something on the task list, that needs attention.

But it is your constant nagging and accusing that makes dealing with you feel like the biggest pain in the ass. That doesn’t help anybody but brings just a bad spirit in this forum.

This is getting uncomfortably personal.

On your suggestion to ‘just leave’, i wanted to add my perspective.

We are all here because we support Fairphone’s mission. To criticise the way Fairphone is managed as a company should be acceptable; these are people that probably work there less than the average lifetime of a Fairphone. There have been 4 CEOs since Bas the founder left in 2018. We are going to be here much longer than our current ‘tech leader’.

I consider myself a typical committed Fairphone fan, I invested in the first crowdfunding round in 2018, and again in 2023, and I have been using an FP4 since 2023, happily until last Nov and the A15 fiasco. All i ask is to ‘FIX MY FRICKIN PHONE’ (FP4.QREL.15.15.2).

We are Fairphone, and we demand better.

Every decision at FP should be guided by the question of whether it is going to enable customers to keep using their devices longer. If the management decides to roll out bells&whistles, that brick numerous phones around the world, that goes against the Fairphone mission. So my humble opinion is that it is their time to ‘just leave’.

I wanted to reply to you 2 weeks ago but this topic got closed/unlisted, and so i posted it elsewhere where it also got unlisted in less than 24 hours, with a personal message from a moderator to stop ‘disrespectul and destructive off-topic rants’. I hope i don’t hit any nerve with the above :innocent:

Well your post here is off-topic while its not disrespectful.

As you could not resist to answer here I will now make it clear:

This topic here, i.e. the initial blogpost is about diversity, inclusion and privileges of some and any other posts not discussing this original message are off-topic even if respecfully phrased.

As I told you @TomHK already in a PM we as moderators will not accept futher off-topic posts here. Its up to all of you if we can keep this topic open for discussion.

You want to discuss FPs general performance? Do it in a dedicated topic and we have more than 1 for this.
