App search broken

Hi All,

I got some issues with my Fp4 and I would like to understand if they are shared with other people. Right now I hope they will be fixed with the next Android update.

Here is a list of issues I’m having:

1. When going into the settings sometimes the response time is incredibly slow. So when I want to toggle wifi. It doesn´t recognize it and closes the menu again. Also here the problem is less prominent when waiting for long before next user input.
2. When searching for an app if I click on the search result too fast the link is still on the old app (of that location without search) eg: I search file for file browser and click on the result within 1 second it opens Aegis (the first app in my list) instead of file browser.
3. Due to these issues I have enabled touch debugging. Through that I noticed some issues with pinch and zoom. I had an issue where the first touch needed to be more up on the screen then the second one. Reversing the order would lead to the second touch not beeing recognized, disabling pinch and zoom.
4. in Threema and signal I have audio issues and I have disabled and renable the microphone to have the other participant hear me. Sometimes in Signal the person on the other line get’s a loud bang when I pick the call.
5. another one I just remembered. I have problems with the swipe accuracy. often the system understands a vertical swipe as a horizontal or the other way around. However I mostly observe this in firefox, so it could be also an issue of FF.

Overall, I am slightly disappointed over the overall SW quality and buggieness of the phone. Does anyone experience similar issues?

I have read about ghost input of other people but I did not see anything like that so far. However, I have issues with the accuracy of the touch display.

Searchin on Fairphone 4 bug

Settings → System → Developer options. Under Drawing, tap Window animation scale and set back to 1x. Under Drawing, tap Transition animation scale and set back to 1x. Under Drawing, tap Animator duration scale and set back to 1x. Obviously you need to enable dev options. That will fix the issue.

Sudden slow response

Some days ago my Fairphone 4 suddenly slowed down. The response to opening and closing apps, for example, is clearly slower than before. Then again, for example typing SMS doesn’t seem to be slower. It looks/feels as if there was an adjustable response time and it would have been set long. But I can’t find such setting. Or when a computer is processing too much stuff at the time and goes slow. I have rebooted the phone a couple of times but it doesn’t help. Does someone have the same issue or …

Ghost inputs on FP4

As OldRoutard says it is the mitigation for the ghost touches that made the touch screen clumsy. Unfortunately I replaced my screen and it was still only a temporary fix. Issue came back over time. I’ve been going back and forth with support for like a year or more. They say that their repair center has some sort of fix but they say they don’t know what it is. They say I can send it in to them through a forwarding address but seems like a waste of time and money. Other’s above and on reddit ha…

Call quality and noise cancellation (regular calls, handsfree, Signal voice messages, Microsoft Teams video calls)

I also have callers frequently complaining about my voice quality, when I’m on hands-free. I did the included checks *#*#2886#*#* and the one in the My FairPhone app. Both seem to be fine for the microphones. Not sure where to continue now.
