Android 15 is Now Rolling Out to Fairphone 4! šŸ“² (FP4.QREL.15.14.3.20250923)

You might want to try a different launcher. If that helps, then please continue in that thread:

Hey there, thank you a lot for this update. It works all well. Great change: It’s so cool, that there is more finetuning possible in changing the loudness cause of more smaller steps. Very good.

But is there a way to equalize the sound? Can’t find settings about. The trebles are very sharp and crisp.

Thanks for help.

You can install an equalizer. Unfortunately I’ve seen none on F-Droid. At the moment I’m trying out Echo Equalizer available on Playstore. At least it enables you to tone down the built-in speaker which I find too sibilant, too crisp.
This is not a recommendation, just an idea for a solution.

Successful update here on Vodafone Ireland. I did lose all my Bluetooth history though, but so far no other issues. Thanks to the Fairphone team for this upgrade!

EDIT actually my Bluetooth devices still reconnect so they are stored somewhere on the phone, but they’re not listed any more. Strange.

I had the Niagara launcher running. There was no improvement with the Quickstep launcher. Immediate restart and rollback to Google Play Services from 1 September 2025. Then I tried Olauncher. It looked stable at first. Update to Google Play Services from 1 October 2025 without restart. Charging to ā€˜over’ 100% without restarting. But this morning I missed my alarm because the alarm caused another restart. Google Play Services is now back to 01.09.2025. If it’s really only once a day now, that would be an improvement, but I’ll have to come up with something for the alarm.

I just got my 3. Restart. Don’t want to try this and that anymore, if it has worked four years so far. I can no longer rely on my Fairphone and constantly have to see if I am still available or have to enter my SIM pin again.

Have any of you tried a factory reset after the A15 update?

I did right after and my A15 works flawlessly so far.

I did not encounter any reset issues in that short period beforehand, just wanted a clean install.

No, I did an upgrade. If the only solution is to make a factory reset, then I will do it, but not now that I have no desire to re-set and install everything again.
The frustration would only be all the greater if I made this effort and it doesn’t get any better.

Just to point out that a clean install is an OS install from scratch.
An Android factory reset will wipe user data, Apps installed by the user and their data, some settings … but the OS will remain untouched, and if there are issues with the installed OS itself unrelated to user stuff, those issues will remain after a factory reset.

Is there any possibility to disable the annoying app suggestions in the bottom row ?
I cannot find any settings to enable/disable this feature.

Hey Nils, i was on Telekom Sim until 02.11. and since 03.11. i am on congstar. And directly on 03.11. i got the update notification….

I experienced longer waiting for the last security updates when using the Telekom Sim…

Thank you for your reply. Today the update arrived on my device and installed flawlessly.

One minor but annoying issue I’ve found, possibly related to the comments about background apps being closed aggressively: if I take a photo and exit the camera app or lock the phone too quickly, the photo tends not to be saved. Sometimes it leaves a 0 byte file, sometimes nothing.

I filled the blank spaces manually to at least avoid it populating random suggestions, but I would also prefer if I could turn it off.

Good news here: update went flawlessly, update of Google play services and apps too, BT-devices all shown, loudspeaker / wired headphones via adapter work as expected, no restart till now. Fingers crossed!

Edit: VPN connections were lost, had to reenter
