Android 15 is Now Rolling Out to Fairphone 4! 📲 (FP4.QREL.15.14.3.20250923)

I guess so. I do not remember exactly but I think I activated it by myself when I started using the USB-C-Dock and my home monitor.

I did lose paired bluetooth devices but on the plus side I can now use a couple that refused to connect before – a Fender Mustang Micro Plus and (albeit with much fiddling) a Polar H10 with old firmware.

Oh and most importantly of all  Flappy Bird which always had severe stutters processing inputs is now completely smooth.

The upgrade worked without any problems for me.

At the moment, even the battery life has improved slightly and the battery lasts until the end of the day. As this was a major problem with Android 13, I will keep an eye on it.

Many thanks to the Fairphone developers.

Hi, did anybody in Germany with the provider Telekom got the update to Android 15 already?

This morning, after charging and unlocking the phone, two restarts in a row. The day has only just begun.

The search bar is disabled. I have written a support ticket.

I am already looking forward to the next few weeks with daily restarts.

I noticed that it doesn’t seem to matter if the phone is plugged in or not. My phone just laid there without charging overnight and still rebooted after I picked it up. Search bar was also off.

But on the flip said the battery drain did go down substantially. Which makes sense, since it closes every app after a few minutes of not using.

At least I can say. that my FP4 didn’t get the update yet. But I don’t know whether it is because of the Telekom SIM or that I am at the end of the list of the staged roll out.

Did anybody install the phone from scratch yet with the new OS upgrade and nevertheless ran into any of the trouble in-place upgrade users reported here?

(Or did I miss it?)

I use Fraenk (part of Telekom) with eSIM. The update is there. No problems so far.

Thanks for your reply. I will have to be patient till the update shows up.

I’m on EE UK so a different network (and country) but there was no update pushed out either. I had to go into the Settings - System - System Update and manually search for the update. When it opened, the dialogue said I was up-to-date but when I clicked the button, it found and downloaded the update. Maybe you could try this to see if it just needs a push?!

The buildable Android source code for Android 15 is also now available! :tada:

You should be able to make the search bar reappear by flipping the switch under Settings –> Display –> Search bar.

WELL DONE FAIRPHONE!

This is really great. I got the update notification yesterday. The upgrade went perfectly and the phone has been running well without a problem since.

I’m very glad to have chosen Fairphone. You are justifying my faith in your company with this upgrade. Well done, and thanks.

PS I hope Fairphone is the ‘mystery partner’ that GrapheneOS is looking at working with in future. Then my happiness that the fairly sad state of the mobile phone ecosystem is making a decisive move away from ‘domination by the few’, and towards true freedom of choice that is good for consumers, the environment and privacy.

I was advised to turn it off because the active search bar may be responsible for the restarts.
Now i’m a little confused.

Unfortunately, disabling the search bar did not improve the situation.
I also noticed that after the update, I checked whether Google Play Services was up to date. The version installed was dated 1 September 2025. The update to the version dated 1 October 2025 runs to 23% and prompts for restart after installation. After restarting, the Fairphone restarts again and rolls back to the version from 1 September 2025.
So I cleared the Play Services cache – no improvement. Then I deleted the Play Services data (which should be done with caution) – unfortunately, still no improvement.
My Fairphone restarts about 2-3 times a day. Always in the morning (even without charging), after charging when the plug has remained in the Fairphone for a while after reaching 100%. (Then there are always 2 restarts within 10 minutes) and possibly another one during the day.
I use the Niagara Launcher.

Besides the restart problem the system feels snappier and the battery drains seems to be less.

Settings app (for the main user) crashes when having private space unlocked. Anyone else have this problem?
