FP4 recovery version after A15 upgrade

I noticed something in my eyes weird: because people report they still have a recovery version with the lying robot and no command (which I thought is obsolete), so I booted into recvoery after the upgrade (edit: by turning the phone off and booting by pressing and holding power and Vol-up). First time I had no robot, it just booted into recovery menu, I unfortunately did not check the system version displayed.
Today I booted again into recovery and had the lying robot, i.e. I had to press power and Vol-up again to get into the recovery menu and noticed that according to recovery I’m on version QREL 14.28.3 while my system info under settings confirms I’m on 15.14.3 (and I never had any A14 Version installed.

@all could you boot into recovery and check the version number and confirm if you can directly boot into recovery menu or you first have to bypass the robot?

Good question!
On my FP4 I cannot boot into recovery, either with Power and Vol+ nor with adb directly, nor with reboot to bootloader.
I get the lying robot each time. After a while (without my doing anything) the phone just boots the system.
If I go through Fastboot (only possible using adb) > Enter recovery, I finally get into Recovery.
As with you, Recovery reports: FP4.QREL.14.28.3
About phone reports FP4.QREL.15.14.3

Just to make that clear again, this also is the recovery…

Its as tricky as it always was, however still works the same way as it always did.

You are correct, but a dead robot is not going to let me recover much. As for the button combination I’m sure you’ve had more practice than me. I find it quicker and more reliable to use adb…

Well the way from adb over fastboot also brought me to the robot :woman_shrugging:

Looking at this topic I wanted to check my FP4 Recovery and I find the problem hasn’t been resolved on my phone.

In particular I wanted to check what OS version is reported by Recovery now that my phone is running FP4.QREL.15.16.1 – but I still can’t enter Recovery without adb.

the way i use are

  • press the Power to get the “advanced power menu”
    (you can enable it in → settings → system → buttons → power menu → advanced reboot)

  • then choose “reboot”, then “recovery”

or

  • first boot the device into bootloader mode :
    with the device powered off - hold Volume Down + Power

  • then use a Volume button to select “Recovery mode”
    and press Power to validate

I finally managed using the buttons. I hadn’t understood that you have to press and hold Power and then add the Vol+.

I see that Recovery has changed and NOW announces FP4.QREL.14.32.0
