About reviving the Fairphone2

Hi there,

After my fp2 battery got swollen (roughly 2 years ago)

and obvisouly dead, I changed my mbile and bought a samsung but I am now considering going back to a Fairphone to avoid google ..

Therefore I have a few questions: If I buy a new battery for my old Fp2, will it work again?

Will I be able to use the internet from time to time, even if the operating system is over?

If not, which mobile of fairphone type do you suggest me to use?

Thanks a lot,

best regards

Alice

Neither the Fairphone shop nor two (German) resellers that I typically check as alternatives carry the FP2 battery anymore. Buying a fresh battery for the FP2 could turn out a showstopper.

As to the question which other model to choose nowadays, I guess this topic could help: FP6 vs FP5, thoughts?

not worth the pain trying to revive a FP2, I am afraid. I am using mine daily but with more and more difficulties.

Buena serra,

Ok, thank you both for your quick replies. I will definitely not buy a new battery for my old fp2.

Alice

Just to support your decision to go for a new phone.
I’ve been using an FP2 for almost 6 years.
In spite the battery was still in good shape, I decided to get a new phone.
Bottom line: Without spending time and having the technical skills to set up and tweak certain niche mobile OSes (and still making compromises in everyday use), you can’t run the old hardware with up-to-date (read: reasonably secure) software any more. :frowning:

Buenas noches,

I have 2 (old) batteries (and other peaces) for the FP2… if you want them?

Just remind you cant really ship spare batteries “legally” …
