Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Fairphone 6 with Android stock (I was previously a Samsung user). On my previous phone I had the option to lock the screen by double-tapping it. Why isn’t this option available in Android 15? It doesn’t seem like something too complicated to implement.
It is available on the FP6 with FPOS?
I seem to remember reading that yes, but I have the model with stock Android. The only way I’ve currently found to lock it without using the power button is to enable the accessibility menu, which includes a dedicated lock button.
Alternatively, you can install a custom launcher or a widget like TapLock, which is open source: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ah.taplock&pcampaignid=web_share
However, since it requires granting accessibility permission, I’d prefer it to be a native system feature.
I guess we’ll have to wait for it to be added to Android.
FPOS is the stock Fairphone Android based system and the setting is there under settings-display
oh ok so I have FPOS but in display settings I only see double tap to turn on the screen
Sorry I misread. Table tap to lock isnt available without third party tools.
I think “double tap to lock” is not a native feature from AOSP. It is added by manufacturer like Samsung, One Plus, etc. For me, i am using smart launcher and it has “double tap to lock” feature.
Yes is not a feature in AOSP and there nothing about in the Android 16 changelog. Currently the only options are the widget or the custom launcher
I miss this feature too! I would love for them to add it in a future update.
