Why is there no Dutch section for a Dutch phone?

I’m seriously wondering why there is no Dutch section for a phone made in the Netherlands.

There is no real manual and to be honest getting information in you’re own language is the most comprehensive. I am Dutch and the lack of Dutch support for a Dutch phone without Dutch manual is mind blowing to me. I did not expect this when I bought my fairphone 6 not so long ago.

Can we start this right now?

What exactly do you call a ‘Dutch section’?
The Homepage for example is in Dutch:

And there is always the possibility to post in Dutch and get a reply in Dutch.

En is er altijd de mogelijkheid om hier in het Nederlands te posten en antwoord te krijgen.

I guess it’s in part about the support pages. They are English only, right?

Hi,

Well yes amongst others things. Maybe I’m old-fashioned but I remember not so long ago people used to get manuals. Let’s be honest, e/os is very different from a regular android phone and going online every time someone encounters a problem is imo stupid. Of course a community can be very helpful but since there is no manual and meanwhile we’ve arrived at Fairphone 6 this forum is kinda hard to navigate…well it’s kinda become a mess (agian imo).

Beyond that, wouldn’t it be honest nice to have language sections wether it’s Dutch, English, German or French, doesn’t matter. Not just to get a more organised forum but so that more people can communicate in their own language. And I bet there are some problems that are bound/linked to the region where someone lives simply because of different rules and laws. For me as Dutchman I’ll be honest I’m disappointed that there is no Dutch section especially since the phone is Dutch, it’s made in the Netherlands. I live in a multicultural land and yet somehow for my Dutch phone for some reason there are only explanation in other languages. In my head that’s backwards.

In that particular case, the /e/OS forum indeed has language sections:

Hello
Thank you for raising a valid point.

Yet, there are three different things we are talking about

  • the community forum, where you can find topics in many languages, feel free to ask the question in Dutch
  • the FP support websites devoted to hardware and FPOS software issues (which I agree it would be nice to have in Dutch as well)
  • e/OS software maintained by Murena. Please do not expect (much) guidance on e/OS from Fairphone, they are not in charge of this product. Their support on software should be read as related to FPOS

Hi,

Yes I know but the information provided there is so little it’s absurd. Since no manual is provided and e/os is very different from standard android, of course a lot of questions will arise. Personally I find this forum hard to navigate or find something. Plus communication in your own language is always the easiest and not to forget, I’m shure there some issues that are bound to the region where someone lives because of different rules/lawes. I’m also just disappointed that there is no Dutch section for a Dutch phone for a Dutchman.

I still don’t get where this ‘section’ should be.
And for e/OS you should check their community, here is Fairphone, not Murena.

So true, so true. It’s a shame that hatdware and software seem to hardly communicate. And personally I find it weird that the device is called Fairphone but irl when using it and someone has issues (not hardware related) they can’t fall back on Fairphone. That’s the first time I have encountered this with a brand in the cellphone branch and have had a lot brands and cellphones going back to 1995-96.

THANK YOU SO MUCH:double_exclamation_mark::double_exclamation_mark::+1:t2::+1:t2::+1:t2::+1:t2:

I’ll get right over there..

There are no such sections in this forum for any language. As @Lidwien correctly pointed out already you can just post in Dutch here if you want to , see Topics tagged 🇳🇱

We’ll just promote in a friendly manner to stick to the language(s) a topic starter chose to start a topic with.

You can ask /e/OS questions to Fairphone support, they worked that out a while ago. It’s just not the direct way, as Fairphone support rely on Murena to support /e/OS since it’s Murena’s OS, not Fairphone’s OS.

See how confusing is this is for someone new here? Me, I’ve got no hardware problems yet but software questions. Does that mean I shouldn’t ask something here? Is that what you’re saying?

As you bought a Fairphone with a different software, I just gave you the advice to ask the manufacturer of the software, not the manufacturer of the hardware. Fairphone is not supporting e/OS, that is done by Murena, but their own FPOS.

You can ask her too, of course, some people are using e/OS also, but the ‘specialists’ are at the Murena Forum.

Believe it or not I read every replay.

But: “You can ask /e/OS questions to Fairphone support, they wo…” You would be surprised how little questions I got answers to before I bought the phone. And the strange thing is, that support is also in English. Of course if you’re an English speaker by nature that seems the norm but believe me, it isn’t.

And: “post in Dutch here if you want to , see Topics tagged :netherlands:” . I might wrong but I see no Fairphone 6 topics and I that’s what I have. Maar bedankt dat je me naar mijn plaats wijst.

Jawel maar hoeveel reactie’s krijg je dan?

Niet minder dan in een puur Nederlands gedeelte van het forum.

Why not start a Fairphone 6 topic in Dutch then?
It’s also a way to find out the answer to this …

If you want to learn how this forum works (or forums based on Discourse in general), @discobot can help you with really nice tutorials … in English, as you would have assumed by now, but it’s not a Dutch forum software  .

Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help.

Summary

I don’t quite understand what you’re getting at with your question. Surely you can just post a question in Dutch here on the forum? Most people will, however, have the standard Android version of the Gen 6. If you’ve bought a Fairphone with different software (/e/OS), I think it would be more effective to go to the Murena forum.

There are quite a few Dutch people here on the forum. If you don’t get enough replies, you can always post in English or look elsewhere.
