Why does Fairphone help Google to track innocent users on Fairphone Website

Unfortunately Fairphone does think they need to collect user data to keep their services functioning well.

The reality is that we use Google analytics or analytics in our newsletter mail client so that we can improve our communications. If we see a surge of people coming from France, then this could influence what content we create for a French-speaking audience, like delivering a website landing page in French. Another example is that it’s really helpful to see which blog posts are most-read: is our community more interested in reading about mining or software?

We have chosen to do the implementation of Google Analytics without involving personal data and we do not provide personalised content or targeted advertising without the prior consent of our customers (which we obtain through the cookie banner only when customers tick the Social Media box).

The GA helps us better understand and improve the user journeys on our website and the forum. For example: to improve our customer support journey/support articles, we are looking into the traffic coming from the forum to the page and vice versa. If it appears at some point that people leave a section in the support page for the forum, then that indicates the need for improvement.
