I can no longer add photos to messages I write on WhatsApp. It is very frustrating, because I could have spent a while writing a message, then when I go to add a photo the message deletes.
Has anyone else had this problem, and how did they resolve it? Thanks in advance
What exactly does not work, you open WA you open a chat and then click on the paper clip sign? what about selecting the picture from galery to share in WA and add the text then?

Hi, yes the option you described works, but I used to have the option to do both. All of a sudden it changed overnight. It’s clunky to have to leave the chat to open the photos app and find the photo, rather than reply to a message with text and conveniently add a photo within the app.
I’m so used to being able to have that option that it’s caught me out numerous times and I frustratingly have to re-write messages again after they disappear after pressing the paperclip button.
As said for me it works all ways. So operating system and version do you have installed (Settings-about the phone - build number)? Do you use a SD card and how is it formatted?is your WA App up to date?
I’ve just tried it too, and it’s working for me. Maybe you could go into the Apps in Settings, and Force Stop WhatsApp to see if it clears itself? You can also clear cache but be careful in case you lose any unsaved content in chats etc. There is a setting in Apps too for WhatsApp permissions and one of those is for access to photos. I stopped permissions and tried the app and it asked me to grant permission again so maybe you could try this and see if it resolves it?

I still cannot add a picture after writing a text from WhatsApp, the text is removed when I hit send.

Hello, I can confirm the bug (?) for FP5, WhatsApp deleted a message when I tried to add a photo from the gallery.
Will add FP5 tag, unless two different threads would be preferred.
Those of you who mentioned it’s still working for you, which version of whatsapp you’re using? Mine is 2.24.25.77

In the help category we prefer to spilt, therefore and because I also agree its rather a WA issue I moved it into the discuss section.
Edit: (in the meantime) on the FP5 I see this behaviour as well same WA Version (would have to test again later on the FP4). I see the same with WA business btw.
