… because you will not get any replacement part. They stopped selling it and there is no alternative out there. This basically means that you can’t fix your Fairphone 3 once its broken.
My display just broke yesterday and I’ve had the stupid idea that I will find a replacement part. Nope!
That is frustrating to say the least.
The Fairphone 3 was released seven years ago. Even a fair company can’t provide spare parts for ages.
But you can check the market place here oder reach out to one of the Fairphone angels, whether they have a used on on shelf.
You can find second hands screen :
(in France : leboncoin.fr today : a complete FP3 with dead motherboard for 60€, also an older offer, a screen for 40€)
Yes maybe my text suggested too much, that its the fault of the company. That’s not what I wanted to say. Yes I can understand that you can not supply spare parts forever. It’s not the fault of the company. But people need to be aware of that. Because for many of us the longevity is very important.
Thanks for the suggestions with the market place.
Hello
I agree it’s disappointing to find that a spare part you need is no longer available.
Please note that Fairphone stops supporting FP3(+) from August and stated that no spare parts are going to be available after that.
In that light, perhaps your topic title might be a bit misleading? I allowed myself to change it to specify that it concerns only FP3(+), I hope that is ok.
But breaking any part after September or later could also lead to the same conclusion.
Thank you Meaghan for the understanding and thoughtful answer. Yes of course your topic title edit is completely fine.
Hello piero-e,
I just registered on that site now to buy this display module for 40 €. But they instantly banned my account. I have no clue why, but I also can’t reach the support to unban.
That’s bad.
Perhaps because you are not in France.
There must be second hands market place website in your country…
Also ask Fairphone Angels in your country.

In your area, Angels offer local help, please dont use Angels country wide. Thanks
What about running a Marketplace by Fairphone for used spare parts from collected old Fairphones?
Because selling used parts as a company means testing them thoroughly and giving warranty.
So running a marketplace here for private tradings should be enough.
Just my thoughts, as I’m not working for Fairphone.
OH, I’m not aware that there is marketplace for private tradings.
And I was only fascinated of the idea that Fairphone may sell used parts instead of recycling them.
But a private marketplace may be sufficient.
Fairphone does sell refurbished devices (none at the moment though) and parts. They also use refurbished parts for repairs.
This topic has been resolved by Fairphone Angel Augsburg (@Paule ). He sent me his last FP3 display module. This works very well. Thanks to everyone for the help.
