is it possible to use the sim slot as extended memory like the sd card slot?

No, that’s not possible, it’s a SIM slot, not a µSD-card slot.

Presumably you don’t have a Fairphone. Some phone have a tray which can hold alternate cards but this is not the case with the Faiphone, they are slots in the main frame. As nSIMs are physically smaller than µSD cards so are their respective slots
The image below is of the FP3, where there are two SIM slots, and shows the issue with size. And of course this doesn’t address the different electronics and connections.
