Virtual A/B slot mechanism need to be more obvious/verbose

Some days ago I receive an update, the update fail, the old slot is recovered and my data was lost

Obviously I didn’t immediately understand what was happening, I only discovered the existence of the 7 attempts later

I think the virtual A/B mechanism is a very bad solution, because to be “virtual” uses the /data space.
Maybe I might have removed the battery at the wrong time, to cool the smartphone, but this also because there’s no evidence that exists a boot counter mechanism, how many boot left before start the rollback.

Both slots use the same data partition, so this is no reason for your ‚data loss‘. It’s not lost anyway, because you have a recent backup I guess.

switching two versions using “temporary” snapshots saved in a userdata space can occasionally corrupt the data on the same partition.
The mechanism is clearly not intended for those devices where it’s possible remove the battery, the user can remove the battery at the wrong time.
And the user cannot know where is the wrong time, because the smartphone don’t provide info about the retry mechanism status
