Video and audio out of sync on iPhone with new Fairbuds

Resently bought my fairbuds and mainly used them for music playback on my FP3. Now when using youtube or other video I have the above mentioned audio delay, which is rather annoying.
My FiiO Btr3 has way less latency.

Same issue here with Google Pixel 8a. Tested Youtube and ARTE app. Latest firmware.

Watching videos with audio delay is annoying. Can this be fixed? This is a real dealbreaker. I unfortunately have to sell my Fairbuds if this can`t be fixed.

Would be great to get a statement from an Fairphone employee about this issue.

Got the same issue: a delay in audio when playing videos with Youtube or whatever video player. I got this on my FP5, Nvidia Shield (Android Google TV) and my Linux Laptop.

In posting this I want to support the attention this needs.

EDIT: I just received my Fairbuds and wasn’t aware of this problem and I’m running the latest firmware (that should have solved this, but not for everyone?). Anyway, created a case.

EDIT2: used for testing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucZl6vQ_8Uo

hate to squash your hopes, but this is actually normal and expected. The fairbuds support SBC and AAC both of which have a minimum latency of 200ms. I found those codecs unsuitable for video consumption or gaming (anything that requires sync between sound and video), independent of the actual buds or headset or whatever (and I tried a lot over the years, none ever satisfied me, bring back the minijack!).

The only codecs capable of delivering the required latency are aptXLL, aptX adaptive, and LHDC LL. There is a great article about bluetooth audio codecs here if you are interested:

Now before anybody says “i don’t have these problems on my iPhone with X”, apple devices actually synchronize video playback with audio playback (basically deliberatly introducing delay in the video), to mitigate for audio latency. But only for devices with apple audio chips (like air pods, or beats, and maybe others who are willing to pay for certification, i don’t know).

I have earbuds that have a low latency gaming mode that helps a bit, although at the cost of much higher power drain and slightly lower quality. I actually don’t know how they do it, since the codec doesn’t change, my guess would be they sacrifice sound quality for bandwith and squeeze more into each packet. But honestly, I don’t know.

This statement isn’t actually true.
Games: Yes you need a low latency code. Same with voice calls etc.

However videos absolutely will play in sync on just about every single well implement Bluetooth device.
The Bluetooth device can negotiate with the connected devices and figure out what the playback latency is.

This is my experience on the buds I have replaced the fairbuds with. It has a pretty horrendous 500ms latency.
however when I start things like YouTube on a computer (of any os), or my phone, or Nvidia shield, it starts delayed for the first couple of seconds of the video but then it immediately adjusts and the video is perceived to be in sync, because the video playback delays itself to match the bud delay.

The fairbuds do not do this correctly for whatever reason because of whatever the software is doing.
