In February we launched the first version of the phone timeline in the MyFairphone app. A personal timeline representing the past, present and future of your phone’s journey. Back then we mentioned we would roll it out to Fairphone 4 and Fairphone 3 users as well and I am happy to say it is now available.
While Fairphone 5 was relatively new when we launched this feature, Fairphone 4 and Fairphone 3 have been around much longer. As such you already have a history with the device. The new update will now also load any spare part purchases & serviced repairs done to the device to make sure that we paint a full picture of your journey so far.
We want to continue encouraging everyone to hold on to their devices for as long a you can. So have a look at your own timeline in the MyFairphone app and challenge yourself to go the extra mile!
Let us know what you think!
We’re not done yet! We will continue working on the phone timeline in the months ahead. Ofcourse we are curious to know your thoughts and ideas for this feature. Feel free to drop a comment here with your experiences so far.
Here’s to many more years with your Fairphone!
The Fairphone Team
PS: to load your history you are required to sign in to the app with the account used to complete any previous orders. We know many of you noted that you are frequently getting signed out of the app, we are working on a permanent improvement for this. Stay tuned, and thanks for the patience!
I myself am quite willing to install this app to give you more insight into how my Fairphone is doing.
There is a problem then: this app cannot be found on the Aurora store. Possibly too tied to Google/Alphabet? I myself use as OS: /e/OS v2.3
I can’t find it directly in the Play Store in a browser either.
I’m not logged in with a Google account while trying, so there could be availability restrictions applied in the Play Store, preventing anonymous browser access as well as Aurora Store from finding it.
It could only be visible for the “compatible” device in question and thus not show up in anonymous listings. You might have to get the APK from someone directly.
Yup, the Fairphone app came preinstalled with my FP4.
I don’t use it though, because it insists on asking me each and every time to enter my credentials, and being an IT professional, my Fairphone password is not my pet’s name or my birthday, it’s a long, annoying, impossible to remember alphanumeric string…
So, it’s too much bother having to enter each time my email and password just to see when I bought my phone (I’m not that senile yet!).
Fortunately the main use of this app (the “Internal Testing Tool”) is accessible without logging in, so I’d rate the app “partially useful”, 6/10.
Which is way better than the first (2022) version, which was “solution in search of a problem”, 1/10…
Hi there,
Thanks for this new feature in the app. Just tried it. However, it says I started using my FP3 in January 2020 when I actually started using it end of Oct 2019… is there a way this can be corrected ?
