Update to Lineage 17.1 not possible "adb sideload connection failed"

Hi all,

I am following the official instructions on how to upgrade to the most recent LineageOS version. Running adb reboot sideload works. However, TWRP shows me 3x3 matrix to enter an access pattern in order to ‘decrypt data’. I can’t remember setting such a pattern. Trying my standard pattern does not work either.

When I enter adb sideload /path/to_lineage.zip, I get the following:

adb: sideload connection failed: closed
adb: trying pre-KitKat sideload method…
adb: pre-KitKat sideload connection failed: closed

Has someone else faced this problem?

Already solved…

In the TWRP main menu, I chose ‘Advanced’ and then ‘ADB Sideload’. After wiping, the adb sideload command from the terminal worked.
