In the last days, I got two strange notifications from the “My Fairphone” app.
The first one I don’t really recall, and it’s been more than 24 hours; the notification history only stores the history that long as far as I know (anybody knows a way to make this store notifications longer?)
The latest one was (german):
Hoppla, da haben wir dir den falschen Link geschickt!
Melde dich an für die Zukunft nachhaltiger Technologie.
translated (by me):
Oops, we sent you a wrong link!
Log in for the future of sustainable technology
The first notification, and also this one, went away when clicking on them; the first one I think with some message saying some kind of thank you on opening, but I don’t remember exactly.
As a bit of a side rant - the notification history is also a bit crippled - it shortens text, and tapping on it does not expand it but instead immediately opens the settings of the App that was responsible. To show the full notification text for the second one, I realized I could turn the phone 90° to get more line width, only then the full first line would show. This seems ridiculous usability - but this is not a Fairphone but a google issue.
The My Fairphone app does not have any hints I could find on what those messages were about exactly, so this has me quite puzzled what the message want to actually tell me?
Has anyone received them, has been able to read them in full, and can tell me what they were about?
The first notification took you toba website that thanked you for subscribing to their news letter.
The second notification took you to a place where they want you and your friends to sign up to their newsletter.
They also have some promo going where if you refer a friend, you get 2 euros in Fairphone store credits, up to a maximum of 20 euros.
So basically they really want you to give them your email address.
