I am planning to move to /e OS. For that I tried to unlock the Bootloader through the official website.
Unfortunately, every time I try to generate the code, I get the error “An error occurred. Please try again later.” I’ve tried the following to no avail:
Double and Triple checking the IMEI and serial number
Using different browsers on different devices
Restarting the phone
Trying different internet connections (WWAN, WLAN and even Wired through an adapter)
Resetting the whole phone
Installing all OS-updates
Is there anything I’m doing wrong or do you have any possible fixes/alternative methods I could try?
It’s not you, it’s the website
I can’t generate a code either at the moment and I have successfully generated several codes in the past month with the same browser / OS.
Hi there
Trying to get an unlock code for my brand new FP4, but the service seems to be unresponsive/down again.
I get “An error occurred. Please try again later.” on the website, and the browser console shows status code 503, plus a CORS error
Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'https://factory.fairphone.com/api/unlock-codes/XXX/YYY' from origin 'https://www.fairphone.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.
Sadly that tool won’t work for the Fairphone 4 (I’ve tried), the FP4 has to be unlocked with a code from the official generator and the phone has to be online when the code is used.
Fairphone added a server-side component at some point, which makes offline unlocks impossible.
