It’s not a bug, it’s a (security) feature
It was introduced with Android 6.

In case you encounter other issues with Android 6, here’s some more stuff to read

Hello,

The link’s articles seem very old (2012). I haven’t been able to install the programme despite following the instructions

My operating system is xubuntu 17.04
I have some people that have the same problem with fairephone os (with google) but with google the fairephone icon is shown but the directory is empty. With fairephone os open, the fairephone is not showing on the computer even with usb debug mode activated

Could you help me please ?

Thanks for your support

Do you get the pop-up mentioned above (and below, for clarity)?:

If you do: on your computer, does the output of lsusb change after you connect the phone?

You can also try to go via file-manager like Thunar to /run/user/[number of the ID of the xubuntu-user]/gvfs/
Thats the mount-point, if your FP2 was mounted correctly…

Hello,

Even if “usb debuging” mode is active, my directory /run/user/[number of the ID of the xubuntu-user]/gvfs/ is empty, whether or not the fairphone is connected though usb

I don’t have any instructions for mounting FP2 on xubuntu 17.10 and I’m not sure that is mounted correctly

Note : fairephone os with google, the fairephone icon is shown but the directory is empty. But with fairephone os open (without google), the fairephone icon is never shown.

Could you help me please ?

Best regards

I had a similar issue with Fairphone Open:

Maybe this helps

The solution I found (as my FPOOS was not updating anymore since Android 6) was : installing LineageOS which is Android 7, and mount the peripheral from bluetooth as explained here

http://www.grimoire-command.es/post/2017/Mount-Bluetooth-peripherals

Bluetooth is slow, but as I added an induction reloading patch (which is plugged into the microUSB) it’s a good compromise.
