Hi! Reverted to stock OS from /e/ a month or so ago. I see a OS update and trying to get it OTA it can’t complete, no error messages or anything.
Any idea on how to troubleshoot this? Tried both carrier and wifi.
You selected the root tag, so is your phone rooted and if yes did you follow this?
Thanks for the quick, it is rooted but I missed the procedure you linked. I’ll reset and apply as suggested and update there in the next couple of days.
I’ve been reading thought the thread, do you think I can reflash the stock OS boot.img keeping everything else in place? Or should I restart from a freshly flashed stock OS? It would be a pain to reset everything but preferable to a brick.
While I’m not sure I could help you at all, I still think more information would be useful. So how did you root in the first step.
The standard magisk’s way. Patched the boot.img and flashed it, I’m using those modules:
- immersive mode
- BusyBox
- f-droid privileged
- system font
- boot loop protector
Really flashed? Thats what causing your issues.
Maybe this helps
I guess I have to apologize, searched a bit but not enough clearly. Thanks for your patience! Best community ever
Update for later reference
I can’t boot from a temporary boot.img on RAM via fastboot boot patched_boot.img
.
Tried from bootloader but hangs indefinetly while pushing the .img into ram and in fastboot mode, purely to check everything, it trows me a boot command not found
as expected.
So I’ve gone back to the same procedure done several times on /e/ with the only difference being that i have to flash back stock boot.img manually.
- Retrieve the base OS (check in system info the right version)
- Extract the boot.img
adb reboot fastboot
adb flash boot /path/to/boot.img
- Reboot to system and apply OTA updates
- Reroot the device
Like this I have updated and restablished root acces.
