When I open some apps that use my camera (e.g. WhatsApp or Snapchat) my torchlight gets enabled and constantly stays on till the app stops using the camera.
I have already tried tinkering with permissions and reinstalling these apps but nothing helped. Any ideas or questions are appreciated. Thanks!

I don’t use WA or Snapchat, so I can’t reproduce your issue. First thing I would do is dig into the settings of these apps.
Other idea: what happens if you open the stock camera? If the behaviour is the same, I would think is a setting of the camera app.
I resolved the issue by doing a factory reset. Thanks for your response after all!
For cuter reference, this issue was not present with the normal camera application provided by the OS
