Top row in home screen shows date

Since the last update, the top row in my home screen just shows the current date.
It’s at the spot where the google search bar used to be.
I cannot remove it, and it does not allow a widget or app icon to go there.

How do I remove this?

you can switch to an alternative launcher but that is a bit buggy. That “feature” is baked into the main android launcher.

Ah, that’s annoying.
There used to be a google search bar at that spot, do you know how to get it back?

I am confused. Isn’t the annoying feature of the main android launcher that it always has a search bar in that place? Having the date there is actually a feature I’d be looking for and I was told I’d need an alternative launcher for.

Do you still have the google app installed?

Can that be uninstalled if you have Google services active?

Yes, with adb. Can only be disabled normaly.

My google app is installed and active. I haven’t disabled or uninstalled anything.
What I think happened is that after a reboot the phone prompted me to select my search engine, I quit that dialogue, and the search bar disappeared.
I don’t know how to get it back, or how to make that dialogue re-appear.

This issue remains unresolved.
I had hoped it would be as simple as a setting.

There used to be a search bar there.
Now it’s gone.
I’d like it back…

Have you tested to deactivate the Google App, reboot, reactivate the Google App and reboot?

Else please report this to support, and ask how to get the search bar selection back, because this

came with the recent update

Thanks for the response.
I tried this yesterday, but unfortunately it does not seem to have done anything.

I’ll try reaching out to support and keep this post updated.
