This WhatsApp trick can save internet usage. If you do not want to download all kinds of files while using mobile internet or WiFi, go to Data and storage usage in the Setting section, and in this section go to When using mobile data or When connected on Wi-Fi or both. In this section you can enable or disable the options for automatically downloading photos, audio, videos and documents so that these files can be downloaded only manually and only with the user’s permission.
