Text messaging not working on my new fairphone 2. How do I enable it?

  1. Is it the app or sending the message that is not working?
  2. Do you use the default app?

Not sure ... Am new to android and Fair phone. Have just switched on and set up. Email and everything else working fine. But no texts and won't send. Probably something simple I haven't done?

First check if your phone is connected to your cell phone carrier.
At least one sim card symbol should not be crossed and showing connection.
Otherwise you are not connected to your carrier and won’t be able to send messages…
Can you call someone?

Can't make phone calls either so it seems am not connected. You'd think that would be the first thing I would try to do with a phone! How do I connect?

Had trouble getting sim card in and now realise where the sim cards symbols are and that they are crossed out. Does this suggest I have not loaded the sim card correctly? Thanks for the help.

Think have sorted it now. Put sim card in card 2 slot and u think it is now working Ok. Until I hit another problem! Many thanks for your help
