Text dictation feature?

Folks, my old iPhone will soon die, and as I do not want to buy anything from US companies anymore, I am looking for a new smartphone made in Europe (more or less).
One thing I really like about the iPhone is that I can dictate text. One thing I really hate about the iPhone is that the speech recognition is almost useless.

I am an author and write a lot of text every day, Dictation is a big plus for me, but the amount of corrections that I have to do after dictation is just awful.

On my Mac (The last notebook with an American operating system that I use) I installed Macwhisper which is local install of open AI’s whisper technology. As it works locally, it does not send data out, it just works locally. The speech recognition is almost perfect. The downside is that it’s not available for iPhones as far as I know and that it requires a lot of processing power.

So, what could I do with the fairphone, especially when I want to use eos?

Welcome to the community forum.

This here might be of interest … GitHub - Stypox/dicio-android: Dicio assistant app for Android … perhaps in connection with this here … STT - Speech to text - #49 by tcecyk - Features & Applications - /e/OS community .

For a localy running app Futo Voice would be the best (Included in their Futo Keyboard)

I was going to recommend that too. Here is an interesting video showing how it works:
