Low priority I know, but when will the Syrian flag emoji update to the current national flag? With Android 16 on the FP6 the new emoji 17.0 suggestions but the Syrian flag remains the same as in the Ba’athist period.
For someone like me with Syrian background, the change would be meaningful.
Hi, I regret to inform you, this is not something Fairphone has influence over.
Emojis are part of a standard called Unicode, which specifies roughly what emojis are available and how they look. Google implements that standard on Android and creates emojis for each description. Fairphone then takes what Google built and ships it to it’s users. If any changes are to be made, they unfortunately would have to go through Google (or maybe even Unicode).
However, I’m not familiar with the history of Syria, so please excuse me if I got something wrong. The English Wikipedia shows a flag subtitled “Revolution Flag” for the Syrian Arab Republic (Flag of Syria - Wikipedia). Is this the correct flag? If it is, then I’m seeing the correct emoji flag on Android 16 (Fairphone 6).
I did some more investigating, and it seems that the flag has indeed been updated by Google upstream, with the Android 16 release: https://emojipedia.org/flag-syria#designs
The forum uses custom emojis I think, the system one is: 
It’s best if you send a message to support, to let them know that some emoji updates are missing from the latest release.

I would like to understand where you are missing the flag? First I thought you spoke about the forum, however you mentioned Android 16, which has nothing to do with forum (software)?
