Fairphone Degradation Selfhelp Group

  • FP4 eOS: Calling and Cel Data doesnt work at the same time. Carrier Dependence maybe, VoLTE might not work, then it doesnt work (otherwise it will fall back to 2G on calls)
  • FP3 under 0 Degrees Mic doesnt work. Others havent seen this…
  • FP3 getting super slow, restarting helps (has SD card). Security updates from a few weeks ago. One FP3 stayed fast, has SD card, all pics to SD card, but taking a pic still takes 1 min
  • FP4 one person has bad quality, sometimes very slow, autofocus slow also for other pics, some pple report pics are not taking pics. G Cam (googles camera as apk) has improved image processing, nicer pics
  • FP4 and 5 stock cam update improved with update
  • some FP4 have bad battery life with 5G only
  • FP3 cannot limit charge to lower than 100 percent
  • FP4 and FP5 sometimes charges backward, charge goes down while charging, like not charging and using battery normally. Different chargers, different cable made no difference, happens every two days maybe
    Theres an app for looking as charging and discharging information: AccuBattery, another similar is Ampere, shows capacity
  • FP4 ghost inputs, removing screen doesnt help, updates made it better/decreased sensitivity
  • FP5 alternative OS: CalyxOS, sometimes sound doesn’t work, reboot fixes it, sometimes charging stopps, and reboot fixes it too
  • Ubuntu on FP2 nice but crashy
  • FP4 replacement parts super easy
  • 4 of around 16 have done repairs
    around 4 use a custom ROM, banking app works, some even with payment (Sparkasse e.g.), health care app doesn’t work
  • FP3 fingerprint sensor is sh*tty

Framework distros

  • Framework lagging after a while, and it makes little if no sense
  • The machine does not shut down properly sometimes: it reboots instead of shutting down. Probably systemd problem caused by systemd and updating things in the background
  • Fan curve: either the fans are almost still, or they spin up at max level
  • Audio sync issues while video is playing and HDMI is connected
  • Third-party components bought from Framework cost way too much. It is a dealbreaker
