Stock camera app changes default save location without user interference

Phone: Fairphone 5
OS: Android 14

Situation: Using the default camera app, I changed the default save location to SD card.

Problem: After a while, photos and videos are being stored in the internal storage again. The default save location has changed without my interference. The SD card has not been removed at any time.

Desired behavior: Changes to the default save location in the default camera app should be persistent.

Possible solutions:

  1. a solution to make this setting persistent
  2. information on what might cause this behavior so that I can check when I can expect this to happen and change it when it does
  3. Alternative camera apps.

Caveat: I have no experience with android.

Kind regards, CSH

Did you set up your SD Card as portable storage?

From, memory, I believe I did. However, I don’t know how to look up this information on my device.

If not you should not be able to select the SD card as storage location in the camera App

I am able to select the SD card as storage location in the camera app, the setting just isn’t persistent.

Maybe the change in storage location could be related to system updates (I know systemd overwrites my settings on every update).
On another forum, I found that update logs are OEM dependent. Does Fairphone log system updates and if so, where can I view them?

Not sure I undestand correctly however there are release notes for all phones and versions

I wasn’t sure if I could use links here. I was referring to this:

If I could see when system updates occured, I could compare this information to the timestamps of images on the internal storage and sd card.

So again: does Fairphone log when I install system updates on my phone?
